I made Jam on Sunday !
I have a plum tree with millions of ripe fruit, so decided to try preserving them. All went well, its the first time I have ever made jam.

I went to the West Midlands Safari Park yesterday.
I enjoyed it despite the traffic jam like conditions. The Camels were particularly cute.

I have bought an ice cream maker. It is fab. I have made some really nice ones with extra thick cream, sugar and fruit. I have also made some healthier ones from frozen yogurt and sweetener, but they are not as nice for obvious reasons.

I am luckily living in an area of Birmingham that now has the BT Infinity service available in the exchange. So I have ordered it. It is based on VDSL rather than ADSL. I'll get (up to) 40 meg download, but the exciting bit is .... up to 10 meg upload speed !
I enquired about the "Up To" bit before I placed the order and am told that based on the distance of my house from the VDSL street cabinet, they estimate I will get 34 Mb Down and 9Mb Up. I'm happy with that.
I get it installed next Tuesday.

Apple had $6.5 bn wiped off it's value yesterday after a bad review of the iPhone 4. The US equivalent of Which magazine gave the phone a bad review because of the antennae problems.
Surely they must recall this faulty phone and correct the hardware problem ?

OK, I got the iPhone 4 yesterday. The improvements are subtle, but it is a better phone than the 3GS which I had previously. The screen resolution is the best improvement.

A stray cat came in to the house on Sunday and went crazy. It couldn't find the way out, so proceeded to climb the walls in a panic. Peter tried to grab it and it bit him.
10 hours later Peter became very ill, and had to go into A&E . Turns out he has a dangerous blood poisoning, and has spent 24 hours on intravenous anti-biotics. Back home recovering now, but under close supervision. Multiple courses of anti-biotics to take for a long time.
Filthy horrible cat is probably the same one that bit my cat Bruno recently and caused him some infection problem.

After 2 weeks of having a dead dishwasher, I finally got around to buying a new one. It took me 3 hours to fit it yesterday (it is an integrated one where you have to put your own front on).

I cut my own hair....always have, I'm not ashamed to say it... but on Saturday I had an accident with the hair clippers and cut out a perfect square of hair in to the top of my scalp. The only thing that could be done to correct this was to shave the lot.

Over the Christmas break, I visited Cadbury World in Bournville. It was a nice fun day, plenty to see and lots of Chocolate to eat.
Cadbury have been in the news a lot recently because of the probable takeover by a foreign company. Birmingham people are scared that production will be moved overseas.
When at Cadbury World, you have to exit via the shop. I noticed they had bars of Old Jamaica, which I remember from many years ago. I bought some. It is made by Cadbury in France !! (and it is actually called 'New Old Jamaica')
