So it's my birthday today and I'm gonna go for a pint after work with friends.
Date: 7th September 2010
The festival was great once again. Very chilled afair, great music, great crowd. Highlights were:-

Sparrow and the Workshop
Beth Jeans Houghton
Malpas
Martin Simpson
The Unthanks
The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

Date: 31st August 2010

Jen and I had a great bank holiday weekend. The highlight being a trip to Sutton Park with Danielle and Russell to pick some mushrooms. We found mostly Bay Boletus with a couple of lucky Ceps along the way. It was hard work as each find was only increased our yield singularly.

After a well deserved pint we went back to Dan and Russell's and cooked up the shrooms, with a bit of garlic, butter, parsley and plenty of seasoning. Beautiful

Date: 28th August 2010
This weekend I'll mainly be chilling. My mate Ben is popping over on Saturday with some venison steaks. Sunday we may go for a walk, Monday we not doing anything.
Date: 20th August 2010
Going to a beer festival with Al, Ed and Gav tomorrow, I hope the weather clears up
Date: 16th August 2010
I had a great weekend. Jen and I popped out for a pint and a curry after work Friday.

On Saturday Danielle and Russel came round. we ate flat-bread, a fantastic rice salad that Jen makes (made with wild rice, basmati rice, quinone, roasted sweet potato, feta cheese, garlic, fresh mint, fresh sage, fresh oregano.), Lamb fillet marinated in crushed cumin, coriander seeds and garlic. Danielle made baklava which was fantastic. It was all lush.

On Sunday Jen and I went for a walk up the Lickeys and then chilled out.
Date: 13th August 2010
What I mean by food is, not the usual fodder I feed myself but nice food. Tonight Jen and are going to eat in town, not sure where yet. Danielle & Russell are coming over for dinner tomorrow. Jen's looking forward to discussing retro furniture with Russell.
Date: 10th August 2010
We had a great day at the cricket on Friday, plenty of wickets, plenty of cobs, plenty of laughs.

I was fine the next day for Kat & Mark's wedding, which was a beautiful affair that started at St Peters in Harborne and finished at Marks parents house down the road. The ham was amazing.
Date: 4th August 2010
We bought a new chair on Saturday. We've been after a small chair to go by the back window for a while. Jen saw this last week and couldn't resist and I'm glad she couldn't because it's perfect.

Date: 30th July 2010
Drinks and maybe a bite to eat with Mark tonight. Tomorrow, will I do the hedges? Who knows, hopefully.

Tomorrow evening we're out for Joe's birthday.

Sunday will be a chill out day.
Date: 29th July 2010
Date: 26th July 2010
Jen and I spent the weekend in London visiting friends. We had a really great time, playing table tennis, eating frogs legs and basically chilling in London.

Thanks Ben and Lottie for a great weekend.
Date: 20th July 2010
After Ian treated us to a fantastic curry on Friday, I'm now craving curry all of the time. I wake in the morning and could eat it for breakfast. So when my Mom and Dad came round on Saturday evening we ordered a takeaway.

Didn't manage to cut the hedges, instead we tidied up the veg patch and watched the Open.

I managed to beat Jen at badminton on Sunday. It's now level at 1 match each.
Date: 16th July 2010
Going for a pint in the Fighting Cocks tonight to celebrate Vicki's birthday.

Tomorrow is hedge cutting day - can't wait!

Sunday, a BBQ if the weather is good - if not a pub lunch with friends.
Date: 12th July 2010

Saturday we played badminton. I under estimated Jens ability and she thrashed me, even with her slippy shoes. As we were leaving we noticed a table tennis table so we booked a session for Thursday.

Cut the grass at the bottom of the garden and disturbed a bees nest, so we won't be going down there for a while.

Well done to Spain!

Date: 9th July 2010
If you haven't been to the Plough in Harborne since it's refurb, then I recommend it. Great vibe great beer. Jen and I went last night to see Vicki's fella play some classics in an acoustic style. It was brilliant.

This weekend I will be cutting the grass and maybe trimming the hedges.
Date: 7th July 2010

That was the order of my evening.

Al has kindly offered to teach me the basics of php. After an hour of intense php training my brain was frazzled , the only cure was a trip down the pub. Gavin came with us to the pub. With two pints in our belly  we consulted the magic eight ball iPhone application, which told us we must go for a curry. So we did.

Date: 5th July 2010

Date: 25th June 2010

Well I am. Jen and I are off to St Ives in Cornwall for a week. We leave tomorrow and I can't wait. BBQ's on the beach, Skinners ale, walks and fine company here we come

Date: 23rd June 2010
Prove me wrong and play your socks off.
Date: 21st June 2010
Friday - great food, great beer, great company, rubbish football

Saturday - great walk in Clent, great pub lunch, productive shop, and a pleasant drink with friends.

Sunday - An unsuccessful attempt at getting Sky Mail synced with Windows Live Mail, lovely chinese meal.
Date: 18th June 2010
but I don't think they will.

Date: 17th June 2010
I'm home alone tonight, Jen's in Edinburgh giving a presentation. So tonight it's fish & chips and the football.
Date: 15th June 2010
After a heavy night Friday I managed to be up and about at 7am to help  finalise the exhibition Jen had organised at Wolverhampton Art Gallery along with a local community panel. Jen and the panel put together an exhibition exploring local history, in particular the history of the Sunbeam.

Members of the public, gallery staff, me, everyone thought the exhibition was a success. Well done Jen I'm proud of you. xx
Date: 11th June 2010
I'm all kitted out with HDTV and looking forward to the forthcoming weeks of football.  Jen and I will watch the England games in a pub - so we get the atmosphere. The other games I can record on the V+ box.

Poker tonight at Lee's with Al and Ian. Then tomorrow It's the opening of an Exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery that Jen has organised. I said I would be around to help her as it's a big event.
Date: 9th June 2010
On my way to work in the rain yesterday, an inconsiderate driver went out of his way to drive through a seriously large puddle drenching me with water. I didn't turn around and acknowledge him, I didn't want to give the satisfaction I just squelched on to the bus stop. It made me so angry, I would never do that to anyone.

It wasn't until the afternoon that I went to use my ipod touch and realised water had got into my coat pocket causing the ipod to break - I was angry all over again.

I hope the idiot in the white car flooded his engine, then at least there would be some justice in the world.
Date: 8th June 2010

Friday night was excellent, It was really good to catch up with the Roadways and meet my sisters new fella'.

Saturday was also excellent. To celebrate Jen's moms birthday we visited Packwood House to see an outdoor performance of  "The Tempest". The picnic and weather were perfect.

Date: 4th June 2010
Went to see "Noises Off" at the Rep on Wednesday - it's probably the best comedy I’ve seen at the theatre, highly recommended.

Going to Steve's 60th birthday celebrations tonight. Tomorrow we're going to Packwood House for a picnic and a Shakespearian play in the grounds to celebrate Jen's moms birthday.
Date: 1st June 2010
Jen was away this weekend so I entertained myself most of the bank holiday weekend.

Friday night I had a couple of pints and a gourmet burger with my old mate Mark.

Saturday I did some house work then picked up some bacon, sausages and a pork chop from my favourite butchers in Harborne. In the afternoon I met Al for a bit of php tuition. After we went for a curry and then went on to The Anchor for their May Beer Festival (Highlight Ale was Beowulf - Rave'n)

Sunday I mowed the lawn went food shopping. In the afternoon I cooked myself a bacon sarnie and watched the England game. Jen arrived home, we chilled watching the TV the rest of the evening - Oh yeah and I cooked my chop and had it with gravy and mashed potatoes.

Monday evening Jen I popped back to the Anchor for some more festival action and finished the evening with a balti from the Ladypool road.

Checked my Friday lottery ticket this morning and to my amazement got four matching numbers which bagged me £72!
Date: 27th May 2010
Went to see the new Russell Crowe Robin Hood. I'd give it 6/10. The story was rubbish. I was expecting a more intelligent adaptation of the story, but it was just predictable.
Date: 24th May 2010
Jen and I were passing through Dudley on Saturday and out of the blue decided to visit Dudley Zoo. It was a new experience for Jen and I hadn't been since I was in Infant school.

I felt sorry for some of the bigger animals in cages but all in all it was a lovely day (the weather helped)

In the evening we cooked Sea Bass on the BBQ and sat in the garden - beautiful.
Date: 21st May 2010
We've had virgin HD installed today, ready for the World Cup. We haven't had the facilities to record TV for ages not even a VHS machine. I'll now be able to record obscure films that are on at 1 o'clock in the morning which is usually past my bedtime.

My weekend will be spent in the Sunshine.
Date: 20th May 2010
Our house is permanently warm at the moment. For some reason we can't seem to turn the radiators off completely. The heating is switched off yet the radiators still seem to be giving off heat. It's not a lot of heat but enough to make it uncomfortable, especially as it was quite warm last night anyway.
Date: 17th May 2010
So, Friday night after a couple of pints in the Welly Jen and I decided to go to the Maharaja for a curry which was fantastic. We then popped to The Old Fox for one more pint before going home.

On Saturday fiends of ours, who were visiting from London took us out for a meal to celebrate our engagement. We went to Clent - had a walk and then went to The Fountain for some wonderful food, It was truly a beautiful afternoon. A big thank you to Ben & Lottie

In the evening our friends Jo & Chris provided some great food and entertainment. Chris prepared some amazing tapas whilst Jo kept everyone's glasses topped up. We finished off the evening with a game of Rapidough. A fantastic evening - a big thank you to Jo & Chris.

Our Sunday was just a day of relaxing
Date: 14th May 2010
Tomorrow I’m dropping Jen's folks at the coach station so they can begin their journey to Canada, I hope they have a wonderful time. In the afternoon Jena and I are going for a walk in the Clent Hills with Ben and Lottie, we're then going for pub grub at The Fountain.

On the evening we have been invited by our lovely friends Jo & Chris for food at theirs. There will be much fun and games.
Date: 12th May 2010
Washed down with a nice glass of red wine. I shall listen to the radio tonight - Wednesday is Mike Harding's folk hour on BBC Radio 2.
Date: 10th May 2010
Our weekend can only  be described as lovely.

Saturday we had a quick tidy then went food shopping. In  the afternoon we chilled out and on the evening cooked a Thai Yellow Curry which we washed down with a couple of bottles of Skinners Cornish Knocker. For afters we played monopoly.

On Sunday we did a bit of gardening and in the afternoon went for a pint of mild at the Welly. The evening consisted of bangers and mash, and then a veg out in front of the telly.

Date: 7th May 2010
Fish and Chips tonight then a big chill I think. Knees bent, arms stretched,  ra ra ra. That's what it's all about.
Date: 5th May 2010
We had a beautiful day out to celebrate Jen's birthday. The weather was perfect so we packed a picnic and road into the countryside.

I'd planned this day for quite a while - in my pocket was the ring - I had permission from her folks, all that was left was for me to ask the question.

She said yes!
Date: 30th April 2010
As usual the weather forecast for this bank holiday weekend looks a bit drab. I was planning to spend a little time in the garden but maybe that won't happen now. I could spend the time doing a bit of cooking - starting to feel inspired to cook again.

Whatever you do have a great time.
Date: 26th April 2010

Hello everyone. It's my first day back after a fairly long period of time at home recovering from a major operation.  It's so good to be back, I'd gone as far as I could at home - the boredom was getting me down.  I think being at work will complete the recovery process.

Thanks to all the guys and girls at clevercherry for covering for me whilst I was away and for for their support. Much love x

Date: 12th March 2010
I will be away for a little while (the doctors are going to fix me up), so this will be my last blog for a couple of weeks. Don't worry I'll be back soon, hopefully you won't miss me that much.

Thanks to the clevercherry.com team for their support over the last month and for their continued support whilst I'm away. We're busy enough as it is so I don't know how they'll cope without their best designer (only joking Mark!, and you're pretty good too Gavin!).
Date: 8th March 2010
I had one of those amazing weekends that come round once in a while; purely divine.

On Friday night we had a lovely evening with Jen's folks, eating fish & chips and playing cards. The boys managed to win the game in 4 hands - ( I must admit we did get a few lucky hand dealt to us)

On the Saturday, whilst Jen was at work I popped into the city to do a bit of shopping ( I was early enough to find the city centre not that busy) and had a pint in my favourite pub. On the evening Jen and I had a fabulous evening with Ian and Sarah, beautiful food and wine was tasted. At the end I was having to "table clench" - No more food would fit into my belly.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at my parents. First off, we all went for a refreshing walk around the Arboretum. Mom cooked a fantastic Sunday roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, best I'd had in ages. We then played cards until I couldn't keep my eyes open and we drove home. I was in bed a sleep by 21:30 and woke this morning fresh as a daisy.
Date: 5th March 2010
  • Tonight it's fish & chips with the in laws, and maybe a game of cards.
  • Tomorrow Jen and I are having dinner with Ian and Sarah.
  • Sunday, mom's cooking us a Sunday roast

Sounds like a perfect weekend to me.
Date: 4th March 2010
I'm really chuffed with my new pair of slippers. The old ones were a size too big and so kept falling off when I walked down the stairs. My new slippers should be called clingers, not slippers, as they cling to my feet in an amazing way.
Date: 1st March 2010

After 9 years in the bowl, Jen's fish finally said goodbye to this world and departed for fish heaven. Goodbye Fish.
Date: 26th February 2010
This mornings shower was very pleasant. I used some of that posh shower gel that I picked up from The Yorke Arms. After the shower I commented to Jen "That Melton Mowbray shower stuff, is lovely" She looked at me funny and replied "I think you mean Molton Brown".  I can just imagine what Jen must have been thinking...  not a pleasant thought first thing in the morning.
Date: 22nd February 2010
Instead we tidied the house. Saturday evening we went to see the film  "A Single Man", which we both enjoyed, although I think Jen was more fascinated with the tuck trolley, though she denies it.

Sunday we had dinner at Jen's folks. On the menu was Chicken Basque which was a taste sensation. Thanks Myra.
Date: 19th February 2010

We're making a vat of curry this weekend and maybe popping round to Jen's folks on Sunday for a feed. Kevin and Myra, if this is news to you I can only apologise.

Date: 15th February 2010
Listening to the Chris Evens show this morning on my way to work I heard the sad news that The lead singer of The Knack, Doug Fieger, had died aged 57. He co-wrote the bands hit My Sharona. Chris went on to play the track which I love, especially the guitar solo.

I was setting myself up for a bit of one handed air guitar, when to my disappointment the solo vanished. All I was getting was the rhythm guitar. I then realised that my right speaker was "Knackered" and I was only getting the left channel.

Thanks to Kevin for a great pie and chips yesterday.

Date: 12th February 2010

I don't do it. Jen my partner sometimes does it, but never as bad as this guy. He's hilarious

Date: 8th February 2010
  • Watched Godfather I & 2
  • Ate pizza express pizza
  • Reported a house fire
  • Drank my 300th different ale
  • Set up our electricity monitor
  • Walked from home to town along the canal
  • Went to the IKON gallery
  • Visited the bank manager
Date: 5th February 2010
Just Chilling tonight with a pizza and a film.

No plans for the rest of the weekend, which is nice for a change.
Date: 3rd February 2010
Jen and I went to the opening of the new exhibition at the Ikon gallery. I was  impressed with Clare Rojas work,  every picture told a different story, in a simplistic but effective way.

After we ate at the newly refurbished restaurant. We've always been impressed with the tapas served at the Ikon and last night was no exception. Some new dishes and old ones re-vamped where enjoyed.
Date: 2nd February 2010
My weekend was nice. Popped to the Hare & Hounds on Saturday to meet a few mates.

On Sunday I cooked shepherds pie and Jen cooked a fruit loaf and eve's pudding, it was all scrummy
Date: 29th January 2010
On Wednesday this week a complete stranger walked up to me with his hand out ready for a hand shake. I wasn't prepared to offer my hand and looked at him funny and said "no thanks". Still with a smile on his face and in a foreign accent he then asked me for directions to Victoria Square. At this point I was already walking away, and then it occurred to me, this gentleman was a visitor from another county and was politely asking for directions. After my rudeness what must he think of us British.

Curry and a pint tonight.
Date: 25th January 2010
I wasn't sure about Downey Jr playing our Sherlock. From the trailers he looks like a tramp with an  American accent, not your gentrified, swarve and sophisticated character we have grown to love in previous screen incarnations. After watching the new film, Downey's Sherlock is tramp and his accent isn't that convincing but despite this he does bring something new to the character which was not unwelcome. As a result I did very much enjoy the film.
Date: 22nd January 2010
Might pop to the pub, watch a movie, clean the house but that's about it.
Date: 20th January 2010
Over the weekend Jen and I popped in for a pint at the Black Country Arms in Walsall. It's our second visit now and both times have been pleasant experiences.
Date: 15th January 2010
Tonight Fish & Chips and the box. Tomorrow a curry in Caldmore to celebrate Danielle's birthday and Sunday I'm going to cook breakfast for my dad.

Have a good weekend.
Date: 12th January 2010
I haven't been able to see clearly since the beginning of December, since loosing my glasses the world has been viewed with blurred edges. On Saturday during my eye examination I was able to read letters the size of peas at 10 yards, it was amazing. I'm so looking forward to collecting my glasses this weekend.

Yesterday Lee, Al and myself attended Cow Club at The Red Lion, It was unusually disappointing. My t-bone steak was poor quality as was Lee's rib eye.  Alex was pleased with his Sirloin although he did originally want a rib-eye but they had run out. In the past the steaks and other food at the Red Lion has been fantastic, so It hasn't but me off eating there again. I probably won't have a t-bone again.
Date: 8th January 2010
I really enjoyed Avatar. If you go expecting to see an in depth sci-fi, then you'll be disappointed. Go with the view that you're about to see a hollywood, visual, action, extravaganza and you'll enjoy it I'm sure.

This weekend I'm getting my eyes tested and chilling out.
Date: 6th January 2010

Our home is back to normal now that the Christmas decorations have been taken down. It does look a slightly minimal affair, having been use to the colourful delights of the decorations and cards. We did leave something to take down today, apparently it's unlucky if you dont take something down on the 12th day.

Good bye Christmas hello snow - can't wait for spring now.

Date: 4th January 2010

Well It's the end of 2009 for clevercherry. I must admit I'm really looking forward to my Christmas break, I need to re-charge the batteries.

Have a great Christmas time , and many happy returns for the New Year.

See you in 2010

Date: 21st December 2009

My weekend was lovely, full of Christmas festivities.

Saturday we ate merrily with our friends Joe & Chis.  There was Christmas song, good food, great ale and snow.

Sunday I even managed to finish my Christmas shopping, whoop! whoop!

Date: 18th December 2009
Tonight Jen and I are going to get in the festive spirit. We'll have a fish and chip supper, write our Christmas cards and listen to Christmas carols. I might even have a glass of port.
Date: 14th December 2009
Friday was an excellent occasion (what I can remember of it). The food, the company the laughs, all good.  Saturday was a right off, both Jen and myself spent the day on the sofa which was nice in it's own way.

Sunday was my mom's birthday. We went for a walk in Clent and then for food at The Fountain. The food was beautiful and mom really enjoyed her evening out, it was great.

When we returned home we decorated the tree and listened to Christmas carols, twas nice.
Date: 10th December 2009
I'm gonna fill my belly with curry.
Date: 9th December 2009
So I've lost my glasses, which is a pain as I can't see friends across the street who might my wanting my attention.

So I figured I would bight the bullet and just go to my opticians and  ask for a repeat of my last order. "No, sorry sir we can't do that, you will have to have another eye test which will cost you £30.

The glasses I lost were perfect. I don't need another prescription.
Date: 7th December 2009
Ian and Sarah kindly invited Jen and myself to  the Cure Leukaemia fundraising ball. The event was fantastic, we literally had a ball. I must say Jen looked absolutely beautiful. Pictures to follow.
Date: 3rd December 2009

I snuck a Chicken Fillet Burger on my way home from work last night. I was ravenous and couldn't hemp myself. I was adamant it wouldn't spoil my appetite but it did, poor Jen had to eat on her own.

Date: 1st December 2009
Our trip to Ludlow was fantastic. The medieval Christmas fayre was really good, lots of ye' old Christmas carols and merriment. I missed the sword fighting this time round but did manage to get a Deerstalker Pie (Venison, cottechino, sausage, dry cured bacon, puy lentils, juniper berries and thyme) at the Church Inn. It was jolly good.
Date: 27th November 2009

Let me tell you of my weekend of last. A trip to the German market was made short by the terrible weather, we ended up at Cafe Soya for some lovely nosh.

On Sunday for my sisters 29th we had a lovely meal at Mad O' Rourke's Cow Pie Factory. I had Faggot pie, Jen had the Allotment pie. We ate well

This Saturday Jen and I have a day planned in Ludlow.

Date: 20th November 2009
My car has been wonderful. It's done 72,000 miles and until Tuesday I have had no trouble with it. So Tuesday on my way to a doctors appointment I have over heating troubles. It's all fine now after a trip to the garage,  just hope it's not the start of more trips to the garage. Touch wood it isn't

Tonight - Fish & Chips.

Tomorrow - a trip to Second to None to find a evening dress for Jen

Sunday -  Mad O' Rourkes for my sisters 29th Birthday.
Date: 17th November 2009
We had a great time staying with Jac and Adam despite the weather being rubbish on Saturday. We woke Saturday morning to thunder and lightning followed by gale winds that made it feel like armageddon. We kept to an indoor activities programme which included a trip to the new Sophie Cal exhibition at Whitechapel Art Gallery and a visit to the British Museum.

Sunday included Sunday Lunch, ale and bar billiards at the Dog and Bell a great pub in Deptford that I highly recommend.
Date: 12th November 2009
Jen and I are off to London tonight for a long weekend. We're staying at Jen's sisters new pad in Deptford. Exhibitions, food and ale on the menu.
Date: 11th November 2009
We had a few fireworks in the garden on Saturday. Jen cooked a customised version of caravan pie, a childhood favourite of hers. Mash potato, baked beans and sausages all fried together. It's my new favourite.
Date: 5th November 2009
Well the weather has finally changed. The heating is back on at our house and I'm having to make jumper dissions in the morning. To add to complications I've decided to go beardless.
Date: 3rd November 2009
The Halloween/bonfire night was very enjoyable. The fire brigade paid a visit, apparently the fire could be seen from a fire they were putting out in another road. They were impressed with Ben's safety precautions and left us to it.

Sunday was great. Al, Amanda, Jen and myself visited The Anchor for a pint before The Bad Shepherds gig at the Glee Club which was fantastic.

I'd just like like to thank Ian and Sarah for the bed they kindly donated us. It absolutely wonderful to sleep in a bed again.
